Habitat: on banks of tidal rivers among other mangrove species
Botany
Evergreen shrub or small tree; 7 metres tall
Stem: base is thickened; without buttresses or pneumatophores.
Content: to 17% tannin.
Use: tannins, timber and fuel wood; for green manure; tannin and for dyeing in red and brown colours; wood for temporary constructions, stakes, enclosures; wood for fuel, charcoal.
