Afrikaans: Transvaal Boekenhout.
Genus: ± 20 species.
Region: tropical Africa, Transvaal, Swaziland, Natal, Madagascar.
Habitat: large communities; on sandy soil, along stream beds.
Use: wood for furniture.
BotanyGraceful, semi-deciduous tree; about 10 to 20 metres under forest conditions.
Stem: bark dark-grey to black, rough, deeply fissured.
