A 36-year-old woman, she is tall, often laughing engagingly and uncertainly. She is enthusiastic, reacts and moves with bursts of energy, after which she quickly retreats into her own thoughts, into her own energy without taking up any space. She talks animatedly, and her face is very expressive. She worked abroad for a few years and, out of idealism, set up a foundation, but the project fell apart in the early stages because it was too much for one person. She met her husband there, who came with her to the Netherlands because she was pregnant. Without a home or a job, many adjustment problems, the different culture, and the different language made it an uncertain time. On the other hand, there is their drive, enthusiasm, and pregnancy. They have a child now of two years old and is still fully breastfed, which requires a lot of energy and sleep from her. She is tired, stressed, emotional, and often has colds. She was unsure about motherhood; they are trying to raise their child as naturally as possible, which causes stress because ‘others might not think it's normal’. She always wants to do more than she can, never finishing anything. They always keep thinking, want more than just this, she thinks many steps ahead, practical matters, the integrating of her husband, and the future. At home, she doesn't finish anything, she doesn't get around to it, she always thinks far ahead.
Later she says that her in-laws couldn't really accept her, and she felt that she wasn't welcome. Her partner had been married before and had older children. The first few years were uncertain for her; she wondered whether he would choose his children over her. She couldn't deal with it very well. She has outbursts at home, she can be irritable, and she wants her husband to express himself more.
She says about the relationship: she was very down-to-earth, but was overwhelmed by everything. She thought, “Let's just do this,” based on her intellect and spirituality. There was a lot of uncertainty; she was searching for answers. “Our path is not so clear.” She had always lived freely. She had set up a foundation and left it in good hands. It remains uncertain where they will ultimately live. She works in social care and has trained in yoga. She had a miscarriage, was very emotional, and recovered after taking Balsamina impatiens. Soon after, she became pregnant again, and the uncertain period described above followed.
AnalysisIn search of a good entry point into this case, the section ‘weaning, general’ was reviewed.
Vinca minor stands out here. We recognize the characteristics of this medicine:
Series 6,
Lanthanides: idealism, working for humanity, living in freedom.
Series 5, Silverseries: teaching, culture, communicating.
Phase 2: uncertain situation, uncertain in trust, outbursts (which we know from
Stage 2), the initial situation of the relationship, her imprint on the world.
Gentianales, 3-665.20.00: not accepted by the in-laws.
Phase 5: enthusiasm, drive, wanting more, wanting to go further. The subphase is often more visible, the wy of performance, the Phase is more the layer underneath.
Stage 3: uncertainty, doubt, tension, and uncertainty about how to behave, or the triangular relationship with parents and in-laws.
Prescription:
Vinca minor C200.
Follow-upThe first few days after the remedy, she slept a lot. During the evening feeding of the child, she fell into a deep sleep and was unable to do any of the household chores she had planned. This lasted a few days, after which she gained more energy and inner peace. No more outbursts. She can surrender more to the need for rest, accepting that there is still much left for the future and not wanting to do everything now. Things are going well, despite a busy period: they are going away for a few weeks, which requires some preparation; the house needs to be furnished, and work is very busy. She is more aware of her perfectionism and wants to be there for others. All her life, she has felt the need to be in nature; even as a child, she expressed this to her parents. Before her period, she is often irritable (this is less so when she drinks lady's mantle tea), after which she gets a ‘burst of energy’. Feeding her child is no longer a duty, a fixation; she can now take it a little easier. In the months that follow, everything continues to go well. Her resistance is now good.
