Verbena officinales A young woman, 33 years old, with two daughters, she has eczema on her hands. She is remarkably bright and fresh, concrete, her eyes are present and expressive, she is not pushy, her face shows often resignation, and she is slim, elegant and bony. She speaks clearly and gives short answers with a concrete explanation if necessary. Her expression is very friendly and vivid when speaking, in between it can be thoughtful and showing her sorrow.
She has had this rash years before, but this time it was very severe, an explosion. She made the appointment because her hand was open, bleeding, and inflamed. She has been given prednisone and antibiotics, with no result. It was always on fingers 2, 3 and 5, and this time also on the palm of her hand. There is never a clear trigger for an outbreak; normally, oily ointment helps. This has been going on for a few years, and she has had eczema her whole life; it comes and goes on her arms and legs. She quickly suffers from flaking on her scalp and eyebrows. It is unpleasant, a kind of dandruff, and very visible (NB: the palm as a reflex zone is related to the intestinal curves, and as for the fingers: the little finger is the course of the small intestine meridian, and the index finger is the large intestine meridian, a reason to ask about the intestines). Her intestines are also a long struggle, always searching; otherwise, she cannot go to the toilet. She has no pain, but then she cannot poop for a few days. With goat yogurt, spelt bread, or no bread, she can go to the toilet fine. With regular yogurt, she gets cramps and has to go to the toilet immediately. Too much fiber in the smoothie causes constipation. She has had intestinal problems for years, at least eight years. There were periods when she couldn't eat, she lost a lot of weight, and she had a lot of cramps. With the diet, she rarely has stomachaches. The problem started when they moved house and renovated; otherwise, life was good. She had an office job at the time. Now she has her own small business – outdoor work. Last year, she quit her office job and had a burnout: all the hustle and bustle, the administration of her own business, the children, the house. The outdoor work gives her peace; she can decide for herself where she wants to go. She was tired, unable to think, simply lacking the strength to do anything. That was last summer. She can still get a trigger; when it's too busy, she gets tired, her body feels weak, and she shivers. Her husband has his own business, and they are still trying to find the right balance between work and private life. Her parents are divorced, and her mother has remarried. Her childhood was not good; she was not happy, she was always withdrawn, close to her mother. She did not have a good relationship with her stepfather, no connection. There was always a kind of battle over the children between her father and stepfather, ‘you should just say...’. Her father died young, and now her stepfather has too.
She has no time for hobbies, she is cheerful, loves sports, and reading. She is very much in her head, thinking about her stepfather, who just died, which brings up a lot of emotions. Her thoughts go everywhere. What it triggers: a relief that he is no longer there. He was still involved in everything; life revolved around him, as a child and still now, you were pushed aside. So many emotions and memories have been triggered, causing relationships to change, with her mother, which causes unrest and sadness.
Her sleep is on and off, restless, lots of dreams, she doesn't remember them, but they make her feel uneasy. She used to be like her mother is now, negative, not looking for opportunities, but now, when she doesn't feel well, she doesn't do anything about it. She now behaves more like her father: looking for solutions and opportunities, which she is now building on. This has been going on for a number of years, but she has made the biggest strides in recent years, especially since she became a mother herself. She is always stressed, and at the moment she is struggling with herself, not feeling well, her neck and shoulders are tense. She is easily irritated, not cheerful, and things are not going well. The relationship is unstable, and that tension does not make it any easier in what is already a hectic time.
Time is passing so quickly, and there is still so much to do, just the basics: the house, the children, work. She feels unseen; there is little interest in her or her work at home. The unrest is uncontrollable.
In her blended family, she made herself invisible. She made sure they couldn't get angry (this is known from the Labiales, presenting yourself, being seen as an aspect of the Silver
Series). The turmoil in her head is uncontrollable, which makes it difficult. Turmoil, despondency, she doesn't want to be like that, it's so frustrating. Fatigue: that's always lurking in the background.
Acanthus hungaricus: no reaction whatsoever.

Follow up After six weeks, she is very enthusiastic: give me just more of that. She realized that she was more open, calmer, and her head felt clearer. As if you come out of the forest into a clearing, calm (a poetic description, fitting for the Silver
Series, this is now becoming clearer). No longer constantly in her head, thinking and worrying, dwelling on things, as if there were a blanket over her. She has now also made choices: less work pressure (theme of
Stage 8); previously, she had not thought about doing things differently (
Phase 4). Now she can also ask for more help. The rash on her hands is now calm, but it is still there. The ring finger is bad, and the index finger is almost nothing. It can be painful. The scalp is very dry. The intestines: lately, she has had a sensitive stomach in the morning again. Sleep is very variable; she cannot remember her dreams, and it feels very confusing and restless. The fatigue is still present, a tired layer remains, and the feeling of not being fully rested. Relationship problems: talking things through brings more clarity. We will continue; there is always a way out. Her neck and shoulders are no longer sensitive. She can handle everything better; she has more patience, more peace. Like parenting, the children and their development. But when they challenge her, she explodes, throws a pillow, and walks away. The dog is also calmer, always mirroring her; she now comes to sit closer to her, and there is more trust. She now has more peace about her, as a characteristic. Things are going better with her partner now; he has started to see things, there is no longer a wall around him, and he shows more emotion. The situation had been bad for five years, since he lost his stable job (
Phase 4 as a theme, partner of
Phase 6 as a theme). The following year, she continues to feel very good.
CommentAfter the reaction of a remedy, you often see confirmations; they come to the surface or become more noticeable.
Language use, attitude, the underlying layers or backgrounds. This gives more understanding of the medicine or the
Series, Phase, and
Stages. In this way, a case can retroactively clarify the essence of everything we call ‘theme’. Searching for the right wording, waiting for the visible picture, comparing it with what you expect, adjusting your expectations. The most important thing is to always keep adjusting, comparing more cases from the plant family, or from the Phase or
Series, letting them sink in. Try to store the total picture, what you might call the feeling, in your memory: this is not only about words, but also images, feelings, movements, and expressions that you can remember even if you cannot name them. Memory is also about feelings, atmosphere, and emotion.
