A little boy of almost two years old has, since birth, had a 'severe cold' every month. Often he has a runny nose, dirty little eyes and a cough, verging on bronchitis. Usually there is a slight rise in temperature, then a cold develops that carries on into coughing. His sleep is then restless, with coughing fits around 11 p.m., 2 to 3 a.m. and in the early morning. The whole family is then awake. He wakes up startled, sits up for a moment and then falls asleep again by himself. Otorrhoea. He rarely has ear complaints, but the tonsils are enlarged and the ENT doctor proposes tonsillectomy and grommets. Rhonchi on the right, no glands.
The boy is small in stature, lively, has very large eyes. He eats everything, wants to do everything himself, plays well. All day long he keeps drooling a lot, his clothes are then completely wet. Often watery little eyes, especially on the left, and this is worse before the complaints appear. He develops splendidly, is cheerful, seeks out the challenge. An open character, radiates self-confidence, 'you'll manage'. His eyes get shadows quickly with tiredness, the voice is hoarse. Despite his cautious attitude - on entering even staying plastered against the wall - a little later he independently explores the whole room and the toys. During the physical examination he crawls up against his mother, but keeps on playing; visibly and consciously keeping an eye on me and the surroundings. He stays alert but not cautious. As a baby he had eczema on the face, especially around the eyebrows. He scratched the rash open until it bled. He often senses what is going on, or whether one of the parents is tense. At birth he already had the look in his eyes of 'here I am'.
AnalysisBased on plant families, following
Plant theory, 2012.
Headstrong, independent, prolonged complaints without weakness; you might then think of the
Lanthanides. But are there other characteristics, more prominently present?
Predominant is
Stage 6: daring, taking things on, breaking away from his safe little world (his parents) but remaining very aware that it is exciting.
Malvales: Mucous membranes, a feeling child, sensitive to feelings, surrounding, and energies. The mother is often away for a week for her work, and this is becoming ever harder for her. Being connected and being separated. Together with the hoarse voice, confirmations for the
Thymelaeaceae.
Prescription Daphne mezereum C200.
Follow upAfter this it goes well. In the first month he still has a cold for one evening, without fever or further complaints. Sometimes he still has a watery nose, but no more snotty nose, and quickly watery little eyes in the outdoor air. Now submandibular enlarged glands, the tongue is clean. The breath is fresh. He now sleeps well, with a dummy (by which you can tell that the nasal passage is open), and during the day often has his mouth open and his tongue sticking out, my estimation being that this is to explore the world. He is very active, cheerful, shrieking with laughter.
Only after four years is he ill once again.
