Remedy code: 3-655.23.12.
A 50-year-old man with retinal degeneration. There is loss of spots that no longer function, retinitis pigmentosa, with small veins dying off towards the retina; it is hereditary, and no medication is possible, genetically it is an unknown form. In bright light, he sees nothing. He always experiences a kind of dizziness, and his left eye is almost gone. His micrographia is notable. He is easily upset and feels vulnerable. His voice is very soft. He also experiences a lot of joint pain in his shoulders, knees, and elbows, which feels like tennis elbow. Because of this pain, he can no longer walk or run and feels it constantly. After an intensive walk, he has knee pain, and going upstairs is especially painful on the left side. Occasionally, he feels stabbing pains. His right elbow can lock up. The right groin has been aching for years and can flare up; it is a dull pain radiating from the groin and lower abdomen to the testicle and penis, making even urination painful. It remains sensitive, with waves of intense pain. He feels tense inside. Since a burnout, he has remained at home. He feels calmer in his head, or is it “I just don’t care anymore,” he wonders. Three years ago, he was laid off, and since then, there has been unrest in his life; he cannot get back on track. A month ago, he had a migraine attack and could not see anything. Suddenly he noticed, "as if the light turns yellow," or everything seemed distant. It felt as if he was being pulled away and could no longer focus, not even seeing a car. The headache was above his nose and became increasingly severe. He saw misty images. Upon waking, he is already tired, feeling, "I just want to go back to bed." He lacks creativity and has no desire to create anything. He is easily overstimulated; certain sounds, especially humming tones or the phone, make everything chaotic, though he does not walk away from it. He worries about his lost libido. Cycling is very painful in the perineum, with a burning sensation; certain clothes already feel sensitive. Warmth improves things; a sauna works wonders, calming his head and allowing him to feel his body again. He loves it when his head is clear.
Ibuprofen makes him nauseous, and give him a sense as if he is dreaming, of not being in the “here and now.” This has been the case since he stopped working. It started with eye surgery, where the eye was turned outward. Afterward, he had two fistula surgeries. The symptoms began years ago with night blindness; although there were check-ups, he knew it was inevitable, as there was nothing to be done. He feels very insecure in the twilight. His dreams are terrible: without calming tea, he dreams of stabbing people, terrifying things, his wife leaving, being abandoned, or his parents dying. He becomes overstimulated by sound, and seeing too much structure makes him feel unsettled; there are too many details. He is a graphic designer. He is very slow, now a homemaker, and has lost interest in hobbies like nature and photography. He received Theridion MK, chosen for the issues "blindness before headache, neuritis blindness, degeneration retina, restlessness, and sensitivity”. After a few days, the restlessness decreased. The muscle pain disappeared for a week, but the joint pain increased. He is less panicky and stressed. The dreams are not as strange. The eyes improved slightly; some vision returned in the center of his left eye. This was within the first week; based on experience, he knows his vision depends on how he feels. Sensitivity to sound is reduced; he was always highly sensitive but resisted living according to it. After three months, he is still very tired; the eye condition drains his energy. The remaining unrest: whenever there is a situation beyond his control, total panic arises. For example, he cannot stand the fountain of the neighbors splashing; his whole body cramps up, “snap,” "I have to fix this," and he hears loud drumming instead of water. A small dent leaves him in panic as if he has no buffer. He can feel his heart beating in his chest. His libido is minimal.
Analysis There is good improvement after Theridion, but vision does not increase further; sensitivity remains overwhelming and limiting, with fatigue and pain. The extreme sensitivity described by this man is mentioned by Vithoulkas as characteristic of Cistus canadensis, sensitive "like a tin pan." Confirmations for
this choice are found in
Series and Phase.
Silver series: graphic designer, sensitivity, notable voice use, listening to what he says and “viewing” words, seeking an answer as if in a speech bubble before him (a Malvaceae trait, extrapolated to all
Silver series, based on casuistic).
Silver series: He was a graphic designer, seeking a job where his creativity could flourish.
Phase 2: helplessness. He did not progress beyond standard assignments in a print shop, contributing to his burnout. Stalling in the early stage of creativity (so within
Silver series).
Phase 3: much uncertainty, dizziness, adapting to circumstances.
Cistaceae: disappointment, not accepted, needing to adapt (work situation), sensitivity, weak nervous system, skittishness, fear, nightmares.
Stage 12: degenerative inflammation, fight dreams.
Prescription:
Crocanthemum canadense C30, = CIstus canadensis.
Follow-upTwo months after the remedy, he feels exceptionally good, describing it as "my self rose," he felt, "This is me." His joints are now much better. He feels great. He now often feels very hot, waking up drenched in sweat. His head is fine; the panic feelings have subsided. Occasionally, he still has a “swimming pool feeling,” lasting 1-10 minutes (notable here is the colorful and illustrative language, fitting for a
Silver series prescription). His sleep remains good as long as he keeps a routine. The pelvic floor cramps are less severe; he does not have to clench as much. Bright light causes nerve pain in the eye. Sometimes, between 2-4 PM, he becomes extremely sleepy and must lie down. Things went fantastically well, for him unbelievably well. But after six months, things have become worse, as if a blanket has come over it; it suddenly flipped. The panic feeling is gone, "under control", but his emotions are now out of balance; everything overlaps. Also, sensitive to stimuli, smell, and sound; he can’t reason things well anymore. He can’t think normally or switch to solve things, it feels as if his battery is depleted. He is still warm. He dreamed of white wolves chasing him, but they did not look scary. Santonine (restless sleep, more panic, eye problems) and Cypripedium did little; repeating
Crocanthemum canadense C30 gave another “super boost.” After a few days, he felt like himself again, like a different person, more himself, with less tension, and his body was calmer. He start again working. He feels tension again after a year when a medical check-up is approaching, "you have no control over that."
