A 15-month-old girl who is frequently ill and susceptible to viruses. Her development and growth are progressing well. Since she started attending daycare at three months of age, she has had frequent colds, accompanied by coughing and a fever of up to 41°C. She becomes lethargic, and her forehead feels warm. The fever causes her to shake and vomit. In general, she vomits easily. She cries a lot, and sometimes she won't let you comfort her and pushes you away. She started on formula, but now she gets milk, bread, vegetables, and fruit.
The pregnancy: the mother had a lot of pelvic pain, around the pubic bone and tailbone, and she was stressed because of renovations that were going on. It was difficult; she was not able to enjoy it very much. The birth: after her water broke, the contractions did not start, then there was a storm of contractions; it was terrible, she was in a lot of pain, and would not want to do it again. Mother and child had a good start, she makes good contact, she plays a lot on her own, and smiles a lot, she is enterprising, and can walk. She has not slept well from the beginning. Every night, she wakes up between midnight and 3 a.m., cries, and wants to sleep in her parents' bed; she cannot be comforted. Her voice is often hoarse.
AnalysisThe child is characterized by fever and sensitivity to viruses. This refers to the
Asterales.
Characteristic of pregnancy and birth: a lot of pain. This also refers to the
Asterales. Labor starts but falters; it is “too cautious,” consistent with
Phase 2.
Q-search with search term ‘fever’ and filters
Phase 4 (because we look for an
Asterales) and
Subphase 2 (the hesitation of birth, the explosion of contractions as known in
Magnesium salts,
Stage 2 and so comparable with
Phase 2) gives Onopordum (
Stage 9), Lappa (
Stage 6), and
Cynara cardunculus (
Stage 8).
Stage 9 is chosen because the child is ‘clear’, understands a lot, but ‘just doesn't quite’ get over the infection; the immune system is not quite strong enough.
The rubric ‘shivering, heat’ gives Bellis perrennis, Cina, and Taraxacum from the
Asterales as differential choices, but in this remedies the Stage didn’t fit.
Prescription: Onopordum acanthum C200.
Follow-upSince taking the remedy, she has not been ill again. After a few weeks, she vomited once at night after eating too much, without any other complaints. After a month, she had a few days of slightly watery nasal discharge, without any other complaints. She continues to sleep restlessly. She is very active and does not like going to bed; her parents have to sit with her for a while. She has not been ill the following year.
