Moss; deciduous; moderately vigorous to vigorous; forming green to golden or brownish turf.
Stems: creeping to ascending; irregularly branched.
Leaves: lanceolate to ovate; rounded to shortly acuminate; usually hollow, with mostly flat leaf margins and toothed at the tip; vein is short and double or absent; cells in the middle and upper part of the leaf are linear and smooth; clees of the leaf wings are square to short rectangular.
capsule: erect; symmetrical; cylindrical; with a hooded calyptra; lid conical or short-beaked; double peristome; seta long and smooth.
