3.0.2 Series and regionsIntroductionThe
Series, the rows of the
Periodic system, describe the various fields in the world. Each
Series is connected to a specific region in the world. In each
Series one identifies with such a region, for instance in the
Carbon series with the body. With each successive
Series the region is expanding and the consciousness of the world is expanding. The region that one identifies with becomes bigger and the "outside world", the enemies, becomes smaller. For example, the
Iron series identifies with the village and enemies are outsiders of the village, whereas in the
Silver series one identifies with a country and outsiders of the country are seen as enemies.
Regions and SensesTogether with the expansion of the regions goes an expansion of the reach of the senses.
Series 1, Hydrogen seriesIn the
Hydrogen series the region is very small, but basically not identified yet. It is the situation of the foetus, where there is no real awareness of space and time yet.
Series 2, Carbon seriesIn the
Carbon series the identification is with the body. The idea is that “I am my body”. The outside world, all that is outside the body, is easily seen as a threat, in the form of dangerous animals and people, bacteria and viruses, diseases and accidents. The skin is the border of the body, the defence against the outside world. Skin problems are typical for children, the age connected to the
Carbon series.
The sense of the
Carbon series is touch, the sense organ of the skin. That is why touching is so essential for babies and children. They need to be in touch with their mother and relatives, feeling the skin of the other.
Series 3, Silicium seriesIn the
Silicium series the identification is with family and friends.
Family and friends are seen as part of “I” and one wants them to feel good, just as good as oneself. It is the region of the house and home, of the neighbourhood with friends and neighbours. It is the small region where one lives together with relatives and friends. One is close to everyone else. In the evolution of mankind one can see it as the period of the nomads, where one lives together and travels around in family groups, as clans. There is a tendency to see other groups as enemies. An example of this is honour revenge, where a woman who has stepped outside of the family is suddenly seen as the enemy and can be killed.
The sense of the
Silicium series is taste. Taste is directly associated with likes and dislikes, loves and hates, the theme of the
Silicium series.
Series 4, Iron seriesIn the
Iron series, the region is that of the village, the tribe. One identifies with the community and wants everyone in the community and village to feel good and have a good life. In this field one can still know everyone personally, although one does not have to be close to everyone. In the evolution of mankind this is the start of settlements and agriculture, where work is differentiated. People have different jobs and one exchanges goods. The enemy is seen as people not belonging to the tribe or village. In earlier times it was often quite natural to kill people from other tribes, as they were not ‘human’.
Series 5, Silver seriesIn the
Silver series one identifies with a larger group, a nationality, a culture with language and religion. One feels part of a country with a capital, which has its own culture, science and art. One wants others of that cultural group to feel good and do well. But people from other cultures and religions can easily be seen as enemies and degraded with concepts like barbarians, heretics, areligious and so on. The history of wars between cultures are numerous, between Romans and Greeks, between Muslims and Catholics, between French and Germans. Nations are competing with each other in the Olympic games.
The sense of the
Silver series is hearing. Hearing already has a much longer reach than touch and taste. Speech belongs to it too, the organs of communication.
Series 6, Gold series, LanthanidesIn the
Gold series one identifies with the whole world and the whole of humanity. One wants the whole world to feel good. The Declaration of Human Rights is an expression of this striving. All human beings are seen as brothers and sisters. There is a strong drive to make the world a better place for everyone, with equal rights, the elimination of poverty, better climate and more biodiversity. One cannot see other humans as enemies anymore. If there are enemies these would be the extraterrestrials.
Lanthanides and
Gold series are similar in this respect. The theme of power is common to both, but the
Lanthanides have more the theme of power over themselves, the theme of autonomy and freedom for oneself and everyone else. In the
Gold series there is also the theme of power in the world, with the corresponding responsibility for others.
The sense of the
Gold series is vision. Vision has an even much longer reach than hearing.
Series 7, Uranium seriesIn the
Uranium series one identifies with the whole universe. Everything is seen as part of the whole of creation.
The sense of the
Uranium series is intuition, which is unlimited.
