Case by Jan Scholten.
Boy, 4 years old, autism. His development was normal until the 13th month. He then got an infection and after that, participation became a lot less. Pregnancy was difficult because his mother felt trapped. She was happy to have a baby but felt alone because she did not have good contact with her husband.
He is fascinated by helicopters and gets excited when he is in them, jumping and throwing his arms up a lot. He always wants to do things fast and then says “faster, faster”. This is so with games of running and playing with a helicopter. He talks only in a few words and he meditates a lot. He has some simple questions like “when is mummy coming home”. He talks about himself in the second person. But he quickly adopts other languages. He is very curious and has a very good memory. He can already sing a song after he has heard it five times He sings very well, very accurately. He is hypersensitive, especially to stress around him. He is very emotional and very connected to his environment.
At the nursery, he is very talkative and very open and likes to make contact, even with new people. He is not shy at all. He is very friendly and kind. He has a fear doctors, mainly because of vaccinations. He also used to have tantrums with kicking hitting, screaming, pinching. These came mostly when he was excited or when he had infections. He could have tantrums if he was corrected, or if his mother in the super makes another tour, or more generally if things did not go the way he wanted. When he was two, he could get very emotional when his father got angry. He can defend his mother if his father gets angry at his mother Anna her fault. He can get angry if a parents fight or if he cannot go we want to go to.
