Case by Tomáš Výboch.
Boy, 4 years old, autismWhen the boy was two and a half a years old, he suddenly stopped talking. His mother feels that it could have been after a vaccination. He was just crying; he was furious and nervous. Before he knew the alphabet, suddenly he didn't speak at all. At seven months he could say "mama", now not anymore. He didn't want to play with the children, he just kept running around.
The main problem is with communication. He cannot answer the questions correctly. He usually repeats the last word of the question, or is silent, or says something garbled. Because he does not communicate at all at kindergarten, children do not want to play with him, so he is alone there. Sometimes he cries hysterically because of that. He cannot communicate, but he likes contact with strangers. He does not avoid them, nor is he afraid of them.
The pregnancy was a planned Caesarian section. In the seventh month of pregnancy he stopped growing, his mother had to take medication. He was born three weeks early. During the pregnancy, his mother had a stressful job, she worked until birth. She worked in the office, there was so much to do that she took her work home to catch up with everything.
After the birth they forgot to bring the boy to his mother, so she didn't see him until the next day.
He has eye contact with his parents, but eye contact with teachers is relatively weak.
He is friendly. He likes people, he has no problem hugging them. He has a very good relationship with his father and wants to be with him. He is cheerful. He likes his grandfather very much.
Sometimes, if his mother requires him to do something, he starts getting angry, kicking, or hitting his head on something. But he will never hurt anyone else. When he is happy, he shakes his hands. He has no problem with change. He has an excellent memory.
He likes to play with cars and trains. He likes to do the tasks assigned to him by the psychologist and speech therapist. He is happy if he receives praise, he also tends to praise himself. He likes to draw, but he is not patient.
He is still on the move. Mother feels like he can't even register her when she talks to him because he is always running. He likes to open doors on everything.
He is afraid of having his hair cut, so his mother must cut it in his sleep. He is not afraid of noise or darkness. He adores animals, likes horses and dogs.

He no longer avoids other people or children. He can do activities with them at the table. He speaks to them, even to strangers. He calls the children on the playground by their name. He is involved in several activities. He calls his mother “mom” and father “daddy”. He also addresses other family members, whereas previously he could not. He has better eye contact with therapists.
His hyperactivity and attention has improved. He taught himself to read. He knows numbers up to 100.
