Spanish: Orejas de zorro, meaning fox ears.
Region: Chile.
Habitat: low altitude valleys, coastal mountains; 0 to 500 to 2000 meters in altitude; very dry areas, little to no rainfall; tolerate droughts; thrive on full sun; grow only on level or northern facing slopes; intolerant of snow; tolerate brief freezing spells
Ecology: host to caterpillars and the swallowtail butterfly, Battus polydamas.
Content: 4-aryltetralone (−)-aristotetralone; aristolochic acid.
Use: ornamental, groundcovers in xeriscaping.; medicinal.

Stem: climbing stalks to about 1 meter in length.
