Year 2022, Issue 51CaseAuthor: Anton Kramer
Case, man, 46 years, fatigue.
- Stress- Tired, especially by summer (since puberty). Then at homeopath, who said: you give too much.
- Insomnia, on and off.
Since Pfeiffer. Then first diagnosis 'angina'; aggravation on erythromycin (white stools, blood through pores, icterus). Complaints then: 1 month 'shitty sick', physically upset, one month not slept. Lab: liver no longer worked. Then I went to homeopath: tea and drops.
Since then: bad sleep; especially bad sleep as a result of anticipation. And worse overall since then from January to summer (sleep disorder and stress sensation, see below). I sleep worse with the least tension; apparently I live on a high tension level.
In recent years many emotional things have happened; work and family.
At a family party, for the 50th anniversary of his parents wedding, memories of his youth came up about the relationship with his parents and his brother. He is the third of three boys. When his brothers graduated they got great stories. A distance developed and he had the feeling "I don't matter". They don't like my teaching and my photography. On his own graduation dinner with the family, his brothers were at the centre. But it should have been his party. After that party I had to 'after-party' at home. One brother thought the other brother had attracted all the attention; and now he went back to tell his story. "I felt like a side issue". That's why he took a step back. He saw his family hardly for two years, or only 1:1, then he is less easily outstripped.
His father was dismissed at the age of 45 because of an industrial conflict. He lived on social welfare. His father had wanted to go to the music academy as a child, but was not allowed to go, but he persevered.
He got no attention because parents had to survive. "I closed off". All these years he lived with a neglected feeling. His parents only acknowledged him when he had become director of a conservatory.
He also chose art: “photography is art, photography is feeling”.
After that all kinds of things went more difficult. For example, as secretary of the owners' association he had a conflict with the chairman. That ruined his holiday.
And at work: he works as a teacher at a college (2 days a week, also freelance photographer). A reorganisation took place; more than half a year before the consultation there were threats of dismissal. And a colleague committed suicide; cut it very deeply. After that he was very gloomy for two months; sadness. And for years only two hours of sleep per night. He collapsed during a meeting at work. Then he arranged with the boss that he could start work later, because of bad sleep and stress.
He had to work with another group, at the same location of the college. Very heavy because he had been working for the same training for 15 years. Although he had been looking forward to the job; as an economist he taught statistics and had been looking forward to it. Now he started doing applied work.
I note: he is considerate, seeing may aspects of situations and problems, is careful in his use of language and very sensitive. He is sensitive to the atmosphere. He feels when there are tensions between people.
Why worse first half of the year? Tgv. school/teaching; tension increases, tests, exams. Although fewer peaks than his colleagues because he partly determines his own agenda through his second job. But also as a photographer, portrait photographer spring is much busier; and he takes on more work in the holidays.
Tormented as a child; not very bad, but he was a 'foreigner'. He came from the North-east polder to Brabant. Secondary school was better.
During his studies he came to a student house where there had been conflicts for years. He can't cope. He felt like a toy.
PfeifferPatient worked on a large course, worked hard, often given as a department coordinator. Was not extended; other task. Felt dumped. Then group holiday; drank during tennis from bottles of others: infected. Then got tired, and slept badly. Especially when his later girlfriend went to sleep; they rolled towards each other and that kept him even more awake.
Then the Pfeiffer.
