663.53.06 Spinacia oleracea, CaseCase by Cynthia Shepard.
Male, 53, prostatitis.
He has bladder problems diagnosed as prostatitis for which antibiotics help only while he is taking them. It has been suggested he will need to continue the antibiotics daily for the rest of his life. It all started with a cystitis where he was practically delirious, passed out in bed, sweat was pouring off him while he was cold and shivery. His urine was scanty, dribbling, burning hot and had a horrible smell.
He walked with a strong limp; his left leg was significantly atrophied and for it he wore a brace. In marked contrast, his shoulders, arms and chest were powerfully muscled.
He has vision loss in his left eye; diagnosed as macular pucker. The vision in that eye is like looking through crinkled plastic wrap. The vision in this eye is critical as he lost the use of his right eye in a workplace accident and fire 20 years prior.
He had polio as an infant; numerous accidents as a youth resulting in broken bones.
He raced his motorcycle and had several accidents, “young and stupid”. At age 17 he had non-contagious hepatitis from a diet of mainly fish and chips. In his mid 40’s he was hospitalised for an unresolved infection that turned into septicaemia, it went from “bladder to kidneys and kidneys to bloodstream”.
He has a rather flippant, jesting, almost macabre style of humour telling his story, making serious matters light.
He prefers living in a quite rural setting with many trees, large properties.
He had a very high tolerance for pain, refuses local anaesthetics.
He fells anger at cruelty to animals, especially to a dog.
As a young man he had quite a temper. In the instances when he had reacted and “slugged a thug in the jaw”, he would be angry and unforgiving of himself for days following.
His father was in the air force, the family moved all over the world. He was very close with his father; their relationship was more like friends than parent and child. The sudden death of his father was a very big loss and shock but he never showed a tear as he had to be strong for his mother.
Fear: heights such as climbing a ladder.
His career as an auto mechanic ended after a badly damaged shoulder. He was unable to work.
Weather: aversion too hot; desire cool.
Desire: cheese, butter; red wine; meat and potatoes man.
Aversion: shellfish; processed meat; sweets.
He enjoys working at the house, building a deck or fence, putting in new flooring, repairing siding and doing construction things.
AnalysisHe reminded of the cartoon characters Popeye, the sailor man, instantly stronger from spinach.
Chenopodiaceae: making serious matters light; never shed a tear; high tolerance for pain.
Spinacia oleracea: prostatitis, having an herbal record as a urinary tonic.
Follow upAfter
Spinacia oleracea 6C daily for 3 weeks he desired more sleep than usual. He stopped the antibiotics and he did not have a bladder infection. His centre vision in his left eye was coming back. The itching spot from a spider bite on his leg about 3 years prior was suddenly gone. Everything seems to be going well.
2 months after his last dose of
Spinacia oleracea 6C he felt a bit irritation coming back in his bladder.
Spinacia oleracea 6c was given daily for 1 week and the irritation cleared completely.
After 4 months he walked into my office no longer needing his leg brace. Circulation is improving to his limbs, especially the polio-affected limb, and his chronic cold feet are now warm. He no longer snores. His vision in his left eye has gradually continued to improve.
After 6 months he started with Spinacea oleracea 12C.
After 11 months his urologist reported that his prostate gland is totally clear. A heart murmur was newly detected.
At 18 months, a cataract, which developed quickly, was surgically removed from his left eye.
After about 3 years he underwent heart surgery for aortic stenosis. His father died suddenly at age 50 of coronary thrombosis.
