Genius
A state of maladjustment in the functional equilibrium of organs, marked by hormonal imbalance. The constitution is typically chilly and allergic, with a strong desire for sweets.
Clinical Picture
A classic Thyroidinum constitutional type may be either thin and lean or obese. Patients are predominantly chilly, often with prominent eyes and swelling of the feet.
In infants, there may be twitching and convulsions, characteristically aggravated by cold water contrasting with Opium, which is aggravated by warm bathing.
Symptoms often show abnormal aggravation during menses. There is frequently a history of allergies, including metal allergies (as noted by Dr. Sarkar).
Mental and Emotional Features
Frightful dreams
Marked chilliness
Desire for sweets accompanied by weakness
Cold perspiration of hands and feet
Suspiciousness and odd or unusual behavior (resembling Hyoscyamus)
Violent outbursts or anger, often worse during menses
Quarrelsome behavior with family members, similar to Kali carbonicum
Physical Complaints
Dyspnea without clear cause, often linked to an allergic background
A clinical specific for persistent vomiting during pregnancy when other remedies fail
Itching and eruptions without clear etiology
Abdominal complaints ameliorated by lying on the abdomen
Excessive perspiration
Marked hair loss
Obesity
Constitutional Affinity
Some patients may exhibit a Lac ovis pattern in their overall remedy picture.
