Taxonomy
In Apg3 classification Sterculiaceae is treated as a subfamily of Malvaceae, Sterculioideae. Sterculiaceae was polyphyletic. Many genera like Abroma and Theobroma, the chocolate, have been transferred to Byttnerioideae, another subfamily in Malvaceae.
In the Plant theory Sterculiaceae is treated as a family and placed in Subphase 1. There are marked aspects of Lithium.
Cola is the best known remedy of Sterculiaceae.
