In the Apg3 classification Schlegeliaceae and Thomandersiaceae are Families in Lamiales. Thomandersia is often included in Schlegeliaceae.
In the Plant theory Verbenales is split off from Lamiales. Schlegeliaceae is placed tentatively in Subphase 1 in Verbenales.
