Depression post-abortion
Presenting Complaints: A 41-year-old female patient presented with longstanding back pain, cough, and gastric issues, previously improving on Kali-carb. Recently, took hormonal pills to terminate a pregnancy (advised against conception due to PID). Developed severe, uncontrollable, painless bleeding after the pills.
Post-bleeding: severe back pain, limb weakness, fatigue, and low motivation; symptoms worsened after the event.
Physical Generals: Desires fruits; thirst increased; excessive sleepiness.
Nature: Irritability increased, getting angry at her children and screaming at them.
Mind State: Feels guilty about the abortion, viewing it as against her ethics and culture. Fearful about her health, feeling anxious about her current situation. Sensitive to noise and crowds; prefers to avoid large gatherings.
Rx: Umbilical cord 30C B. D. for 3 days
Follow up: Back pain much improved; slight numbness noted. Menstrual cycle now regular with proper flow; previously scanty. Feeling of guilt, sadness, and regret has reduced.
