Himalayan vulture – is a huge Old World vulture in the family Accipitridae. They are found in Himalaya, Nepal, Pakistan, India and China. Their weight is up to 12 kg and the wingspan reaches 280 to 310 cm. They have a long neck with fine down and a distinctive white feathers ruff. They feed on carrion of big mammals, but sometimes also on smaller weakened animals. They usually build nests on rock ledges which are covered by rock also from above. Both partners alternate in sitting on the egg. The main sense of vultures is their excellent sight. Blunt talons help them only when walking, but not when hunting the prey.
