ZoologyCorvus live around the world. their habitats are mountains, forests, sea sides and towns.
Corvus corax is the biggest bird from Genus living in Europe. It has large beak and its range of wings is usually 1,2m long with the shining black feather.
It flighs more quickly than Falco. It eats everything (death animals, rubbish, it steals eggs from other birds nests). It is known that its world belongs to the world of beasts. In case of finding dead or hurt animal, they bring the group of wolf to it and let them to tear it apart. The lasts pieces of meat are left for Corvus.
If they are without companion, they tend to live in groups. After finding a partner, they stay together for the rest of the life and they protect their nests which are built on the top of the trees or rocks that are not easily reachable.
The female raven has approximately 5-7 eggs. Females are seat on eggs only. Usually, only 3 of them survive and the others are pushed out of the nest. Raven can live long, sometimes even 40 years.
Raven is the most intelligent and the smartest of all birds. They tend to solve conflicts and use tools as primates. They like their freedom and sometimes might make damage just for fun.
Corvus corax is the biggest one from Genus –it is the „king“ and very self-seeking.
It is said that
Corvus corax is important subject of mythology because it represents many symbols in this area. Its meaning is death as well as protection. In addition, raven is often connected to witchcraft and it symbolizes a sacred bird, especially for American Indians and in Russian Siberia. In America, it represents the creator as well as the evil man and the war demon. To add, Chinese considered it as Sun and Greek people see it as god Apollo. Raven is connected with death and witchcraft in Europe.
