666.44.12 Gaillardia aristata
English: Common blanketflower, Common gaillardia; Blanketflower.
Botany: herb, wildflower; northern and western North America; lance-shaped leaves; flower heads with a centre of brownish or reddish purple disc florets and a fringe of ray florets, ± 2 centimeters long and yellow to reddish with dark bases; fruit is a stout, hairy achene including long, spiky pappus.
Use: ornamental.
