Cyanus segetum 3-666.42.05An eight-year-old girl with persistent fever for several days, around 40.5°C. She has a rapid heartbeat, a brown coating on her teeth, and a white film on her gums. The week before, she injured her hand, which is now infected, and has developed a large blister filled with pus. She only wants to lie down, sleeps a lot, doesn’t complain, and sleeps through the night. Normally, she is very active and never lies down. She has a painful cough, is weak, struggles to stand, and eats very little. The illness started abroad during a formal family visit for a religious festival, where it was reportedly prevalent. General blood tests revealed nothing unusual except for elevated creatinine levels. After a third examination, the local doctor prescribed antibiotics, but her parents refused. They called from abroad, unsure how to handle the situation or return home. She was given paracetamol, which had little effect. Her tongue is pale and whitish but clean. She has a foul odor in her mouth. She looks around calmly, even curiously. Normally, she has a powerful will and can be quite insistent.
Analysis The complaint seems viral, with few symptoms or affected organ systems standing out.
Characteristics? The family is also ill, so it is an infection and there is fever:
Asterales.
The only clear symptom is "weakness during fever." Synthesis repertory lists 195 possible remedies for this. Upon review, Carduus benedictus stood out, which is classified in
Stage 11. The course of the fever suggests a different Stage, the fever doesn’t rise high enough to address the virus effectively and lingers without progress, indicating a Stage of hesitation or lack of resolution. Using Q-search with the keyword "weakness" within Phase 66,
Subphase 4 (
Asterales), two rows of possibilities emerged.
A remedy was chosen based on the fever, a Subphase fitting the lack of progression and the slow course of the illness, pointing to
Phase 2 or 3 and an appropriate Stage.
Prescription:
Cyanus segetum C30.
Follow-upOne hour after taking the remedy, all symptoms resolved.
