Case by Maarten van der Meer
A 62-year-old woman, she is lively and cheerful, has bright eyes, is small in stature, and has a colorful voice. She sits quietly but radiates activity and alertness. She looks attentive a calm and seems to effortlessly grasp the questions before I have even spoken. She has always had respiratory problems and a small lung capacity. She works in health care, and since Corona four years ago she has kept coughing, she has a lot of phlegm, the voice drops off, and has a tick, or cracks. She went to work less and got a lot of physio and occupational therapy, she initially spent six months in bed, and she couldn't even get up the stairs. Eventually, she went outside again, but she still stayed out of breath quickly, she goes to the gym despite having to sit down a lot in between, and she also returned to work: 'It's way too much fun, and you do have to get on with life!' Now she has had a cold for six weeks. She calls herself a “care animal. She also does terminal care. It's pretty tough, physically too, but this kind of work “belongs to her. She does not use medication. Before, she was never sick. She took care of her mother when she was old, and recently her husband who had chemo treatment. Also, the pets died. All that has cut into; it made her extra tired. With this telling, a hint of sadness hangs in her eyes, the first and only signal of emotional discomfort. Hobbies are walking with friends and reading. She often has a cold, always with a lot of phlegm. She always wanted to go into nursing, she wanted to work with old people. In training, she got prolonged Pfeiffer and had to quit and start over later. She had a cheerful father, they went on vacation, and it was a pleasant time. For years she has had lipoedema and little strength in her legs.
AnalysisMalvidae: striking features are voice, complaints of mucous membranes, strong nonverbal, and remarkable color of voice.
Phase 5: cheerful, driven, enthusiastic, reading (many interests). Edema (result of congestion). Cheerful youth.
Phase 6: as Subphase visible on top of cheerfulness: tired, partner, giving a lot (worrying). Having to give up studying. Within the Simarubaceae, which required searching for a suitable medicine, Chappara was chosen.
Prescription: Castella tortuosa C200.
Follow upAfter taking the remedy, she was mildly nauseated for a day and had a dry mouth for a few days. Within a week this disappeared, and the cough was suddenly over. The second week she had dirty snot bubbles for a few days. The fat glands are gone, the voice is good again, and the “click” is out. She has less appetite for sweets, even an aversion. The fluid is out of the legs, she has lost three pounds after a month. The sleep is deeper, she doesn't wake up anymore. She is fitter, which she notices while exercising. The morning stiffness she used to have is now gone. She eats less, she is more quickly satisfied. The tongue is smooth and moist, to the right there is a shallow groove at the edge on the side. After three months she has a cold only once more, a feeling of a plug under the throat that she cannot cough away, with lying down the breath is audible (“bubbling”). Her energy is still good, fluid in her legs remains gone, but she has been coughing for three weeks and can gag because of this. She is cheerful, energetic, and radiant. Her tongue edge on the right is still visible and smooth. On the symptom of “plug throat,” Scuttelaria is selected. Scuttelaria has Remedy code 3-6 65 5 4.17 Both the
Stage 17 aspect, and the
Phase 5 aspect match her story, loss of
Stage 17. The cough disappears quickly. Possibly a complementary medication or an acute complaint? The following year she is fine.
