Region: Sichuan, China; himalaya.
Habitat: thickets, open wood margins, near streams; forests in valleys; prefers moist soil, light, medium and heavy soils; grows in semi-shade, light woodland or no shade; at elevations of 900 to 3600 metres.
Use: leaves, cooked in famines, when all else fails.
