644.24.07 Calophyllum inophyllum
Names: Calophyllum in Greek means beautiful leaves.
English: Alexandrian Laurel; Beautyleaf; Balltree; Beach calophyllum; Beach touriga; Borneo-mahogany; Indian doomba oiltree; Indian-laurel; Laurelwood; Satin touriga; Tacamahac-tree.
Name: Kamani; Tamanu.
Botany: hardwood tree; foliage dense, leaves decorative, glossy, dark green; strongly scented white flowers; fruits ± 4 inches, yellowish brown.
This tree often grows in coastal regions as well as nearby lowland forests. However it has also been cultivated successfully in inland areas at moderate altitudes. It tolerates varied kinds of soil, coastal sand, clay or even degraded soil.
Content: neoflavone, calophyllolide; fatty acid methyl ester.
Use: seed oil has a nutty, aromatic odour; cosmetics; ornamental; oil for energy; boat building, construction of keel of canoes.

Introduction
