Habitat: sunny, open locations, grasslands; teak forests; wet soils along streams and irrigated rice fields; usually scattered, sometimes locally numerous; elevations of 600 to 1800 metres.

Use: medicinal; ornamental; leaves for essential oil as a flavouring for sago cakes, perfumes and cosmetics; mosquito repellent; medicinal.
