Vaccaria hispanica
Year 2022, Issue 23CaseAuthor: Martin Jakob
Remedy code: 663.46.08 A 65-year-old woman has been with me for several years because of migratory pain in her joints. Worst of all are the pain in the hips, which makes it difficult to walk, the worst are stairs, she only is managing them with the use of the stair railing. She says, sometimes I stumble more than I walk. Even at night she has pain and the whole hip feels very hot, with burning pain worst at 3 o'clock in the morning. Cold packs help, but the pain is robing her sleep. She is often awake between three and five o’clock, because of the pain. She has more or less pain for the last 10 to 15 years, the pain is becoming worst over the years.
The doctor says the tendons in the hip are shortened and the hip joint is stiffened and there is the vague diagnosis of soft tissue rheumatism. She gets from time to time a cortisone injection into the respective joint, if she can not stand the pain any longer. She is already a long time to osteopathy and physiotherapy, which also helps her partly. She also has a lot of pain in the shoulders, the left shoulder is more affected, the pain extends to the neck and the left scapula. She can not screw up with this arm. She has tearing pains in her feet the worst when she is lying down, moving of the feet helps.
She complains that she is very tired in the afternoon. She is a strong woman who, despite constant pain, she manages her daily work on her farm. To my astonishment, she always has a positive attitude, despite all the pain, despite great difficulties with family and setbacks on her farm. Despite all the adversities she maintained her cheerfulness.
She had no easy childhood, she grew up on a farm at the eldest daughter of eight children. Her mother has been suffering from tuberculosis when she was twelve years old and has been in a lung - sanatorium for a long time. She then cared for her younger siblings, cooked for the family and worked on their farm with her father. Already before that she had to work a lot, for play was no time, taking care of the family was always in the foreground.
Later, she was married to another farmer and had a very dominant mother-in-law. For the mother in law who only work counted. Even when she was already very old, she is the determining person on the farm. There was a lot of work to build up the farm with her husband, they switched to organic agriculture and she worked daily from morning to night. She treats her cows all homeopathically and has much success and knows every single cow, exactly with its complaints. She is regular for further training in animal homeopathy.
She often visits her siblings, one sister is already in the nursing home she goes there often. She has a good contact with her direct neighbors. She says she is constantly worried about the grandchildren, about her siblings in general for all family members. She tells me how she is visiting her sister and how the nephews and nieces are doing and about the friends at the seniors' club. She is quite open hearted person and likes to chat about her family and her friends, with me. I do not ask her about this topic, she does it out of herself.Father: He was a taciturn man who had to go to war to Russia at the age of eighteen. He has been strict and serious and it was difficult to make proper contact with him. There was no tenderness on his part, because it did not exist as he grew up.
Mother: A self-sacrificing woman who has always done all her duty to the family. She has taken on the responsibility for the family until she became sick. Then she came to hospital with tuberculosis and the patient overtook that responsibility for the family. Tenderness was also from the mother not very pronounced, it was more a caring for the physical needs of the children.
She likes all plants, she says everything what is flowering I love, for example primroses.Analysis660.00 Asteranae: She has a biologically cultivate farm and treats her animals homoeopathically.
Class = purpose of life, here the responsibility for the world (lanthanides).
663.00 Caryophyllidae: The needs of her family with the farm she has to bring together with her personal freedom. Even as a child, working for the family with their common farm was important, not her freedom to play. Later, she took over the task of caring for the family from her sick mother. When she got married, there was the dominant mother-in-law, and she has much to work for the family business (silicon series), only the farm has counted. Subclass = is what she really is doing, her aim of life is about her family, friends that they are well. She is worried about them. She talks to me a lot about her family and friends, not so much about other topics.
663.40 Caryophyllales: The situation how it is for the patient (= phase), is that she takes on the responsibility (phase 4) for the family from her mother. She is responsible for the welfare of her siblings and friends. She is a stable woman, an open hearted person and likes to chat about her family and her friends. An optimistic, positive person despite all the adversities. The mother confirms phase 4, she is a woman who has always done everything, has been very responsible for the family.
663.46 Silenae: The feeling in the situation is (= subphase) that it is actually too much what she has to give and what she gets back. Especially with her mother in law one can perceive this. Tenderness and shown affection were little present, a form of neglect. The strict, serious and distant father is the confirmation of the subphase 6. Above all, her rheumatic complaints have caused me to choose subphase 6.
663.46.08 Vaccaria hispanica: She is a hard-working woman, who together with her husband has built up a biologically managed farm. A lot of work with no time to play.
Prescription: Vaccaria hispanica C200 every two weeks and later every three weeks.Follow up, four and a half months later:
I had talked to her in between on the phone, and since she was better after the first three doses of Vaccaria, I recommended to take her the remedy, at a three-week interval.
She states: In addition to homeopathy, she had also done a fasting cur and feels reborn now. Her quality of life has now risen from 40 to 75. She can now move much better, climb the stairs much better can walk and also bending is much better. Psychically, she says she is doing very well, she is much more active, meeting friends, going on short trips on weekend and so on. Before that, she had rather withdrawn because of her general mood and her complaints. She has a lot more energy and drive, has more pleasure at work on her farm again. In response to Vaccaria, she noticed that she was very angry about her mother-in-law, who had spoiled her the most beautiful years of her marriage, and had treated her for forty years disrespectful. She always worked so hard, did what she could do, on their farm, and the mother in law is still bossing around. She was healthy all winter, no flu not even a cold. In recent years, she has had often influenza, which have been accompanied by great exhaustion, which was always takes her a long time to recover.
