FulguriteCase by Kellie Kirkpatrick
(fulgurite = fossilized lightning)
Summer, 2025
Female, 66 years. She’s a fiery, energetic redhead. She looks far younger than she is.
She’s had uveitis with 25 eye surgeries on her right eye. Finally, one doctor recommended she have an “evisceration” because her quality of life had been poor. She loves to garden and hadn’t been able to do so for 5 years because of potential debris from the garden getting in her eye. The surgeries had involved cleaning out the vitreous of inflammation. There were complications from a lens falling out after a cataract, a detached retina. They would remove her cornea every three weeks to wipe it clean; you could see it melting on her eye. She was on steroidal eyedrops for 25 years and took 17 Ibuprofen a day for the pain. After the evisceration a year previously, she felt relief and joy. I can live my life now! They did a great job; the eye looks like a normal eye.
She had a one-sided adrenalectomy at 35 y.o.
She’d like help with her sugar levels. She cannot get them down, despite being diligent about it. She has granuloma annulare. It’s only itchy on her abdomen.
The only med she is currently on is for blood pressure, which was 150-160/100, If not higher.
A year ago her cervix closed up (must be cervical stenosis)?. Intercourse was painful. They wanted to do a biopsy, but it wasn’t possible, so she had a full hysterectomy. After all the eye stuff, a hysterectomy was a “walk in the park”. She does have less pelvic tension since the surgery.
She’s looking for help with her sleep. Every night she is up for 2-3 hours in the middle of the night. It started over 20 years ago, when she met her current husband. He and his two teenage sons were dealing with the grief over the loss of his first wife. They were not coping well and she held all of her own feelings inside. She felt robotic and unhappy and her husband was technically an alcoholic. (imponderable = holding one’s self back). Her sleep position is either curled up or on her back with one leg drawn way up. She gets “super hot” at night in bed.
She speaks a lot of her relationship, of how special it is. She says they have similar goals, similar “OCD organizational skills” and are both philanthropic. They have a nonprofit, where she cooks farm to table meals in their Victorian home near the sea. Guests come in a small group and have a meal which involves wine from her husband’s collection of 100,000 bottles in the cellar. The money goes to charity.
She’s been a Kundalini yoga teacher for 25 years and she’s a Bates vision teacher. She loves to dance and studies salsa. Her diet is Paleo, farm to table and seasonal. Everything is from scratch. She cooks 21 meals a week. She loves cheese, which she doesn’t eat. She’s averse to oysters, clams and mussels but loves scallops. She loves vegetables. She is aggravated by nightshades.
I ask her about her nature. “I’m confident. I have fierce determination and I’m stubborn. I’m mindful to not over give at my heart center, which has been an issue in the past. I marvel at my resilience”. I would say that she is bubbly. She says she has always been introverted and shy which is completely contrary to how she presents. “I’m a big observer. Once I went to a David Bowie concert and I was silent all day and just observed”. “I’m a “bull in a china shop”. “I have a lot of energy, I’m never down, which is why I should sleep well”. Both her husbands said that everything she does, she does perfectly. “How come stuff comes to you so easily”? “Despite of all I’ve been through, I’ve always risen, because my name is Rosemarie”. She speaks of sexual feelings for her old boyfriend in a kind of crude way. She talks on the phone with him once in a while. She is loyal to her husband.
She shows me pictures of the interior design of her home, which is done with attention to detail throughout. There are carefully chosen paintings and stained-glass windows in every room, all directed by her. She is very fastidious.
At this point, I am starting to feel bowled over by her energy vibrating in the room and the idea of all that she does, especially considering her health challenges.
She was the fourth of five children. Her father had PTSD from the Korean war and was injured as a firefighter. He was very ill for years and retired early. They were poor and the family lived off of food stamps. She escaped to the skating rink and loved to skate and compete. When asked if she had a role in the family, she says “I was the intuitive, sensitive one. I didn’t intuitively miss a trick. I was the response column. No one was emoting. I was probably the one who stomped her foot the loudest. I had righteousness, probably from not understanding why people didn’t talk or emote”. “Once I kicked a nun in the shins in school. Then I ran out of the room”.
She has a fear of snakes. She asked for a hug as she was leaving the appointment.
She was very wild from age 17 to her late twenties, bringing medorrhinum to mind.
She was very much there for the deaths of her parents, but is estranged from her three living siblings. “You create your own soul family”. One sibling is a Bible thumper, one was very cruel to her when her sister was dying. She tells stories of terrible things they did.
It was the following statement that led me to think of imponderables:
I also realized my light shines so brightly some people just can’t handle it. It’s something I’ve kind of quashed over the years to some extent. I was in a skating competition in Lake Placid. It was the most beautiful moment of my life and I placed first. Teenagers are horrible. Afterwards, the others said, “You shouldn’t have won”. They thought another girl should have won.
Jonathan Hardy had spoken of imponderables having a light/energy that they have to suppress because it is too much for other people. She had other themes of imponderables that he mentions: being tough and strong, being larger than life, altruism. Once I realized this could be an imponderable, I was intuitively told that the remedy could be fulgurite. Although fulgurite is a physical substance, it was created by electricity, an imponderable.
Rx: Fulgurite C30, every 2 weeks .
Follow-up @ 7 weeksShe had one of the worst healing crises I had heard of, because of how long it lasted. She took the remedy the day they left on vacation overseas, so they were on a plane. The day after they landed, she got bad diarrhea which tapered off over 3 days, on day 3 she got a sore throat, later bronchitis. She was coughing up tons of mucus. ("fur balls").  The coughing up of mucus took close to six weeks to resolve. It’s possible she was sick despite the remedy. I think it was a healing crisis since it started right after the remedy and ended up being a cure.
Her long-term sleep issues are resolved. She now sleeps 10:00 - 6:00 every night. For over twenty years, she had been up in the middle of the night for 2-3 hours every night. She said that previous to the remedy, she had been doing 5 alternative therapies, multiple times a week: chiropractic, acupuncture, etc.  After the remedy, she canceled all her appointments to be more peaceful at home. She is far less reactionary. Her husband brings something up in the evening and she now says, can we talk about it tomorrow?  I asked, what would you have said before? She goes GRRRRR and makes claws with her hands and grits her teeth like a wild animal.
It's hard to know what happened with the sugar levels. They went down, but she started a supplement for that issue at the same time.
In the follow-up, rather than feeling bowled over by her energy as I had been in the initial visit, I feel an energy zap, as if I was absorbing her energy. Maybe the difference was that she had found more of an equilibrium within herself.
She wrote me after the follow-up: Holy Moly!!! When I was young (maybe 8 ish??) my family was in a cottage by the water on vacation and I was in the tiny bathroom changing from swimming with the water heater and electrical box in there and a storm came in and the house was hit by lightning and I remember the huge white FLASH in the room. I also remember someone saying (Mom or Dad), OMG Rosemarie!! and they came in through accordion door and brought me out.....
She attracted lightning and later needed a lightning remedy. Perhaps she needed fulgurite as a child, since she then started to hold herself back and not express her big energy fully, the imponderable theme. Maybe there is something there about her father being a firefighter, fire being another “fiery” imponderable.
