Case, man, by Dietmar PayrhuberKnee joint pains resistant to therapy.He is a medical student and suffers from severe knee joint pains for six years. He had several medical investigations, but neither a diagnosis, nor a therapy was found. It is diagnosed as an auto-immune disease. One time he was operated on. The pain in the knees becomes worse year by year and the pain is only lessened, if he puts big blocks of ice on his knees, at least two times a day. Walking is even sometimes not possible; he must go to the practical courses by a walker.
The only important symptom regarding the case history is that he had an abscess at the roof of the mouth eight years ago. This abscess healed without treatment. His father died one year later. Another striking symptom is the joint pain is better with cold applications. The pain is worse with movement.
Evaluating and subsuming the symptoms, we have only a knee joint inflammation after tonsillitis with a peritonsillar abscess, a keynote for Guaiacum officinale. And we have a very striking symptom, amelioration after cold applications. This I found repeatedly with joint pains better by cold applications, it is a keynote of Guaiacum officinale.
The psychological symptoms fit to the case. He is morose and critical. (The parents are divorced; he had some contact to the father and the father died one year after the abscess in the mouth.) In the Materia Medica of Scholten we find to striking psychological symptoms: his favourite hobby is motorcycling, and pyrotechnics and firework shows were fascinating for him in his childhood (Jan Scholten 2013, „Wonderful Plants “).ResultsGuaiacum officinale in MK every few weeks, later FC 5M in irregular doses and LM potencies, always changed when the remedy does not work anymore good enough, give immediate relief from the pain and after a few weeks he can build furniture from IKEA. After a few months is able to go a few kilometers, and now, after a few years he is a medical doctor in a hospital and is able to work day and night without any complaints.
