Meteorite: The men who could not pass awayDuring a weekend shift at three in the morning, I was called to see a terminally ill patient whom I had never met before.
He was suffering from severe, treatment-resistant pain due to a glioblastoma in the optic nerve area.
After several recurrences and just as many operations, he had gone blind and was largely paralyzed.
He could no longer speak, but he responded to touch and gentle encouragement.
When I touched him, I had the impression that he was wide awake inside and his attention seemed to be fully focused on my presence.
He was locked inside himself.
I perceived his condition as a kind of inner isolation, and it seemed impossible for him to relax and recover.

This man had been a high personality Phase 4, a well-known teacher in the local academic high school. He had to undergo a big disappointment, when (out of political reasons) he was not elected to be the director of the school, although he would have been the best qualified candidate. Stage 13
Soon after this decision his disease had started.
