Complaint: A melon-sized fibroid in the uterus. This is pressing on the bladder, causing her to need to urinate frequently. Her gynaecologist advised her to have surgery. As she did not feel comfortable with this, she wanted to try homeopathic treatment.
She had menstruated normally until the age of 48. After that, her periods became irregular, and since the beginning of this year, they have stopped altogether. In recent months, she has experienced hot flushes and a feeling of pressure in her lower abdomen. This is why she visited the gynaecologist.
Type: A friendly, somewhat plump lady, of Indonesian origin. She has lived in the Netherlands since the age of 9. She is married and has two children aged 20 and 22. She has an office job, which she enjoys. Apart from that, she has no problems.As a child, she suffered from frequent bronchitis. A few years ago, she experienced hyperventilation when under a lot of stress. She no longer suffers from this. She also used to suffer from occasional stomach cramps.
Her periods have always been normal. She did occasionally suffer from headaches before her period, not severe but more of an unpleasant sensation in her head.
The pregnancies and births of her two children went without complications. She has never had vaginal infections. Her sex drive is normal.
She feels the cold easily, but during hot flushes she feels hot and sweats profusely.
She sleeps well.Fears: She absolutely cannot stand violence on TV. She worries a great deal about her children, particularly regarding their health. She is also afraid of being alone in the dark; in any case, she does not like being alone. She is afraid of heights.
Preferences: sweet (3), savoury (2), meat (2), eggs (3), very thirsty (skimmed milk, tea).
She does not like fish or fruit.
Examination: Vaginal examination: a melon-sized tumour extending two fingers below the navel.
Outcome: Following the selection of symptoms, Calcium carbonicum clearly emerged. See the repertory entry made later and attached. This remedy also suited her type perfectly. She had felt dizzy in the first few days after taking the remedy. She had also experienced this at the onset of her menopausal symptoms. During the first week, she had been very tired and listless. Low potencies (D3, C5) daily, often as a supplementary remedy alongside a constitutional remedy

Two weeks later she went on holiday and then everything gradually improved. She currently feels particularly well; the hot flushes are much less frequent (80% improvement). She feels relaxed. She has not had a period.
Examination: Vaginal examination: grapefruit-sized, non-hard tumour (1/2 S N ).Outcome: An excellent response with initial worsening followed by psychological and physical improvement. As there was still pressure on her bladder and she felt that nothing had changed in the last 3 weeks, I repeated Calc-c M K. She rang me three times:21 August: she had started her period.21-9 to 26-9: her period returned with a lot of clots and fragments.
4-10 to 11-10: her period returned again.20-10 I saw her again. She felt very well. The pressure in her abdomen had completely disappeared. On vaginal examination, I found nothing. I waited to see what would happen. She had an appointment with the gynaecologist in early November.
On 10 November she rang me: no more fibroid!!I saw her again in June ’89: she felt fine, she hadn’t had her period since. But she was now experiencing some back pain, a stiff, nagging sensation in the lower back, slightly to the left, especially in the mornings when getting up. Once she was up and about, the pain was less. The weather had no clear influence. She had mentioned the back pain before. She felt a bit more rushed.
Outcome: The back pain had not been influenced by Calc-c in the past. There were few symptoms, but they all fitted with Rhus-t, which is also a complement to Calc-c. I gave her Rhus-t 200 K.
A month later she rang: All her complaints had disappeared.
