Use: tropical hardwood trees.
Large trees; 30 to 40 m to 50 m tall, deciduous in the dry season; they can become very old, 1,500 years and more.
In older classifications Tectona was placed in Verbenaceae. Now it is placed in the family Lamiaceae. Sometimes it is included in the subfamily Prostantheroideae.
