Habitat: forests on mountain slopes and in valleys; elevations of 200 to 1800 metres.
Use: young leaves and flower clusters are eaten as lalab, vegetable salad served with sambal with rice, somewhat bitter; shoots, raw or toasted, as a bitter seasoning; traditional medicine.
Shrub or small tree; 4 metres tall.
