Rosaceae is the first diverging lineage of the Rosales in the Apg3 classification.
In the Plant theory Rosaceae were formerly placed in Subphase 1. Now Rosaceae has been split in 3 Subfamilies. Rosaceae is a big Family. Splitting Rosaceae creates 3 Subfamilies with a more proportionate amount of genera.
It is nice to see how three aspects of the Rosaceae fall into each of the Subfamilies.
Subphase1: Subfamily Rosoideae
Tribe Potentilleae: Fragaria, Potentilla.
Subphase3: Subfamily Pyroideae
Tribe Maleae: Kageneckia, Lindleya, Vauquelinia
Tribe Malinae (previously Maloideae or Pomoideae)
