The theme, according to the group analysis, is being alone in your fight for existence. They feel that they are completely alone in their struggle for life. They don’t have any companions to help them. This fight for existence may be a matter of getting a job or another form of income, it may also be a matter of getting something to eat. The latter situation reminds us of a concentration camp. We will meet this theme again in other situations.
One variation on this theme is that they may have the delusion that they are not allowed to exist. One situation in which a person is denied his existence is again that of a concentration camp. The most basic right of food is taken away, as well as other rights, such as freedom of movement, freedom of expression and the right to have some belongings. Such a person has no say in the situation and is dependent on the whims of his guards.
A third variation is the feeling that all possibilities of escape have been taken away. There is no chance of escape, and all places on earth are dangerous. This is a con-centration camp situation once again.
the idea that their right of existence has been taken away from them.
The original situation which typifies the Nat-i state is that of a concentration camp. They are imprisoned and they can’t escape. They don’t know what will happen next, they might die any moment. They are at the mercy of their guards. In spite of the fact that there are many people in the same situation, each individual feels that he has to do whatever he can for himself, in order to survive.
Nat-i people are very anxious, but they often don’t know why. It is a restless sort of anxiety, as if something dreadful might happen at any moment. They feel as if they have to escape from something, and movement ameliorates the restlessness.
At the same time as being anxious they also feel quite sad, as if they might burst out crying for no apparent reason. They look like a scared and trembling little bird.
