Mycology: saprophytic; morels thrive where elms die from Dutch elm disease.
Culture: a Polish belief is that the devil by chopping an old woman to pieces, out of which morels sprang out of the ground.
Use: Chinese medicine, a tonic to intestines and stomach, reduces phlegm; regulates the flow of vital energy.
Stomach: nausea, vomiting.
Rectum: diarrhoea, explosive.
Limbs: inco-ordination, ataxia.
