In the Apg3 classification Eriogonoideae is a subfamily in Polygonaceae.
In the Plant theory Eriogonoideae is split off from Polygonaceae. In the first version of the plant theory Eriogonoideae was placed in Subphase 5. Now it is placed in Subphase 7, as cases have shown.
