Dear reader of Qjure
I recently was pointed to a book about the periodic system linked to living beings. It is very interesting that the author, Antonio Lima-de-Faria, is originally a physicist and has made the connection of the Periodic system of elements with living beings. He shows that many biological phenomena also emerge on a periodic basis. For instance carnivory in plants returns in many families and orders, unexpectedly. Similar effects can be seen in the formation of the placenta in animals and plants, the eye, luminescence, flying and so on. And they recur suddenly, from the simplest to the most complex organisms.
There are several aspects in this phenomenon. First is the on or off phenomenon. There are hardly in between states, it is not gradual. It is digital, quantified. The genes for it are the same in all organisms, even when they are not used. This phenomenon shows that evolution is not random. The recurring similar structures are not paradoxical, but just not fitting into the random mutation and selection idea.
The second aspect is the evolution. This is present in living beings, but also in the elements, where all of them arose form the first element Hydrogen.
It is a pity that he has not found the correlations. For instance carnivory is not linked by him to Stage 17, or Phase 7. The only link he makes is that of the Marsupials rot the Lanthanides and the other mammals to the Actinides. And this link is mostly incorrect, except for linking those groups to rows and series.
We wish you much reading pleasure and inspiration.
