Commelinoids
Names: Commelinoid.
Botany: ultraviolet fluorescent cell wall compounds, ferula acid and coumarin acid; leaves contain silica acid; cuticle wax is often rod shaped, as scales.
Taxonomy
The Superorder of the Commelinoids consists of the Orders Poales, Arecales, Commelinales and Zingiberales in the Apg3 classification.
In the Plant theory the Commelinoids is not retained as an order. It can be seen as a Superorder or Subclass. It is split into its 4 Orders and placed in different Phases:
Phase 2: Poales.
Phase 3: Commelinales.
Phase 4: Arecales.
Phase 5: Zingiberales.
